Best cake EVER

So.... today is my birthday!! Happy Birthday to me!! And this is the cake I got to cut into tonight - I love that my three sweeties wanted to decorate a cake for me - and I LOVE that Chris' first comment was "wow, you make this look easier than it is" - and I LOVE that the girls stood in front of Chris instructing him on each step that mommie makes next - and I LOVE that they were as excited for my birthday as their own. I even love the mess they made of the kitchen... :)

Blue Booties {Baby Bootie Shower Cake}

Everytime I make these little booties out of gumpaste, I think, "ohhhh, how cute!!" This little pair is extra special though because this cake is for one of my best college buddies who is pregnant with her first baby! Congratulations, Jennifer!! I can't wait to meet Baby Parsons!!

Opposites Attract {Pink and White Wedding Shower Cake}

This cute stacked cake with opposite color schemes for each tier is for a bridal shower in Atlanta this weekend - that's right - I've crossed state lines!!! I'm a little nervous about sending a cake on a 4 hour road trip, but fingers crossed, everything will work out fine.

To Infinity... And BEYOND!! {Toy Story - Andy's Bedroom Cake}

I'm pretty sure that my husband is more excited than my girls about the soon to be released "Toy Story 3." So, when I got this cake order to replicate Andy's room, I knew he'd be my go-to for design questions. (Rachel's parents bought all the Toy Story figures and will be adding them to the cake... will attach their pic when I get it!)
-- A side note -- if you haven't seen Toy Story 2 - my favorite quote is from Mrs. Potato Head, who, a little upset at Mr. Potato Head, says "I'm putting in my angry eyes." Just about any situation in our house can be diffused by quoting that line. Hysterical!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow... {Rainbow Cake}

In this age of IPODS, Twitter, Hannah Montana and Taylor Swift, I LOVE it when a little girl chooses a cake that I would have chosen back in 1984 when I turned 7 (you know, the "simpler times" - okay, not in all ways, but in someways life was simpler back then). What I love even more - my girls went CRAZY when I made this cake - they were enthralled watching me and couldn't wait for the whole rainbow to be done. And rest assured, they were great helpers - every few minutes they made absolutely SURE I knew which color needed to go next on the rainbow. Thanks to their help I got it right, I think :)

Two Turtles {Blue Dot Cake with Turtle}

My friend Wendy has become one of my biggest cake supporters - it seems like every other month she's calling for a new cake. The great thing about that, is that she always has the cutest ideas! Her darling baby boy turns one this weekend, and his birthday theme is turtles. How cute?? Happy birthday, Townes!!!

Very Hungry Caterpillar {Hungry Caterpillar Cake with Apple Smash}

We're partial to "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" in our house... but who doesn't love the original Eric Carle classic "The Very Hungry Caterpillar?" What a great theme for a first birthday party!!! My girls loved watching this cake take shape - I can only hope the birthday girl enjoys destroying it as much :)

Fantasy Football (& Basketball) {3D Sports Ball Cake]

My house is full of princesses, barbies, nailpolish and glitter. Poor Chris is surrounded by all things girlie. So - when I got an order for these two ball cakes, I think he was delighted to pull out his well used (although now dustcovered) basketball and football for me to use as models. Maybe one day soon the girls will have pity on him and toss the ball around for awhile with dear old Dad :)
